To Bag Or Not
To Bag
All
edible items that are not in their original packaging,
or if the tamper-evident seal has been broken, must
be placed in the special NYLOFUME bags provided or removed
from the property.
Food
storage containers, such as TUPPERWARE or RUBBERMAID,
are not considered adequate protection from poisonous
contamination caused by the fumigant.
The
following items must be bagged or removed
from the property:
-cardboard boxes of cereal, rice, potatoes, crackers,
cake mixes, pasta,
soy/rice/powdered milk or liquid soy/rice/milk products,
and similarly
packaged products
-produce (frozen or fresh vegetables and fruit)
-meat (frozen, fresh, or deli)
-spices and herbs (fresh or dried)
-flour, sugar, baking products
-bread
-eggs
-cheese
-candy
-opened containers of milk, juice, water, or wine
-opened canisters of medicine (prescription or over-the-counter)
-opened containers of liquid medicine (ie: PEPTO or
MYLANTA)
-bagged pet food and treats
All
food from the cupboards, refrigerator, and freezer must
be bagged or removed from the property.
Items,
which are exempt from bagging or removal, (only if unopened)
are as follows:
-canned, glass, or plastic bottles of soda, juice, water,
milk, sauces,
vegetables, fruit, soup or meat
-bottles of wine or champagne
-jars of baby food
-canned dog/cat food
Clothing,
bedding, furniture, toys, and kitchenware will not be
affected by the fumigation. Therefore, you do
not need to bag or remove these items. However,
if you have an infant who has a mattress enclosed in
plastic, please remove this item from the property prior
to the tenting. This will ensure that no gas remains
trapped inside the mattress covering.
WHEN
BAGGING ITEMS, PLEASE REMEMBER THAT TWO NYLOFUME BAGS
MUST BE USED. HEAVY DUTY TRASH BAGS ARE NOT SUFFICIENT
TO PROTECT YOUR FOOD. PLEASE ADHERE TO THESE GUIDELINES
OR YOUR FOOD COULD BE COMPROMISED.
Please
remove all plants and fish from the property, and make
certain that no cars remain inside the garage. If you
have an automatic ice-maker, turn off the switch and
dump all of the ice that is dropped during the
fumigation. This ice is contaminated. If your home has
a water dispenser, such as ARROWHEAD or SPARKLETTS,
please dump all of the water (including what
is contained within the dispenser itself). The water
will be unsafe for consumption.
If
for some reason some of your food was not bagged before
the fumigation, please dispose of all products you suspect
are hazardous. Remember: When in doubt, throw it
out.
